Insulation (cont. p. 8)

What Your Insulation Contractor Will Do

Unless you are a do-it-yourselfer, trying to save as much money as possible (installing batt insulation is about the only thing you can do yourself) you should hire an insulating contractor for a total insulation package.

Get a whole-house insulation package

A complete insulation package should include:

‚óŹ All labor and materials for installing floor, attic, wall, and basement insulation.

‚óŹ Application of foam around framed-in doors and windows.

‚óŹ Foaming of holes which allow passage of wire or pipe.
   Foaming wires

‚óŹ Foaming of any opening through a wall that separates heated from non-heated area.

‚óŹ Caulk edges of sole-plate lumber, where wood touches concrete.

Some insulation contractors offer even more services.  Ask for the full-range of services they offer and consider each on a case-by-case basis.

Openings in subfloor should be foamed
