Put Some Thought Into Your House Plan

Will views from the house be important?  Are there things you want to see or hide?  Plan accordingly.  Will you have a garage?  A side entry is more attractive.  Anything to enhance “curb appeal” is a good idea.

Whatever source you choose for your house plan, give thought to how you want the house to live for your family before spending money on the plan.

 

Make A Priority List

Think of everything your house has to absolutely, positively deliver, and write it down.

This list should include basics such as number of bedrooms and baths, and the number and type of other rooms.

For example do you have to have formal living and dining rooms?

How about a recreation room?  What are the size of the rooms?

 

Whatever you can think of that you’re not willing to live without should be on the list.

You should also have a second list, consisting of the luxuries, amenities, niceties ─ whatever you want to call them ─ that you would like to have if they fit your budget.

Consider this list carefully.  Everything on it represents money that you don’t have to spend. When both lists are solidified, it’s time to get serious about choosing the plan that fits you.
