Two-By
A generic term for the common pieces of house framing lumber, 2x4s, 2x6s, 2x8s, etc.
Under-Beam
Commonly refers to the amount of square feet of a house which has a roof: living areas, garage,covered patios, etc.
Under-mount Sink
A sink affixed and built into a countertop, usually granite or solid-surface countertops.
Valley
The “v-shaped” section of a roofline, commonly created when gabled roof lines join another section of roof.
Vapor Barrier
Plastic sheeting placed between the ground level and the floor of a house foundation to inhibit moisture transfer to floor.
Veneer
A generic term meaning the visible exterior surface of house walls, being brick, siding, stucco.
Wall Cavity
The hollow space between wallboard of interior walls, and the insulated space between wallboard and sheathing of exterior walls.
