Quarter Round

Quoin
A decorative brickwork accent, in which several courses of brick are laid so as to protrude from the rest of the wall.

R-Value
A numerical rating, measuring insulation’s ability to resist heat flow from non-heated to heated areas and vice versa.



Ready-Mix Concrete
Concrete that is mixed and prepared at a concrete plant then delivered by truck to a jobsite, ready for pouring.

Rebar
Steel bar that is embedded in poured concrete, prior to hardening, to add strength and enhance load-bearing capability.

Ridge Vent
Ventilation device affixed to the ridge section of a house roofline.

Riser
The vertical section of finished steps, usually measured in inches and subject to building code parameters.

Rock Clause
A conditional clause in many excavation contracts, calling for additional charges in the
event that rock is encountered which cannot be moved by dozer or backhoe, and must be jackhammered or blasted.
