Gas Furnace
A method of home heating, source being the combustion of natural gas or propane.

 

General Contractor
An individual or group licensed for the construction of buildings, being responsible for the means of the construction, the material used, labor performed, and the overall management of the construction project.

General Liability
A type of business insurance to protect against any business related loss, theft, mishap, or accident ─ the minimum type of insurance required for general and subcontractors.

 

 

Grade Beam
A footing that lies within the boundary of the exterior walls, used to provide foundational
support for interior load-bearing walls.

Granite
A type of natural stone countertop, noted for beauty, strength, and durability.

Green Plate
See “treated lumber.”

Grout
A multi-colored composite of cement, sand, and water used to join floor or wall tile.

Hard Cost
The total cost of all materials nailed, screwed, or glued so as to become permanently
affixed to the building structure, plus the cost of the labor to install same.

Header Block
A type of concrete block used in foundations, serving as a frame for the pouring of concrete or foundational support for brick walls.
