Framing Your House (cont. p. 18)

 Things You Should Watch For

● When framer is finished, do a thorough clean out before rough-in of mechanicals begins.

● Do a “walk-through” before the framer leaves the job, looking for anything that doesn’t look right.

I know you’re not an expert, but you don’t have to be.  If something looks wrong, it could very well be wrong.

Remember that it’s appropriate to withhold some of the framer’s payment until framing inspection passes.  I usually withhold $500.

● It is your responsibility to call for a framing inspection.

Framing inspection is normally done after all mechanical rough-ins are finished and walls are insulated.

But that could be different in your area, so check with your building inspector to make sure of the proper order of inspections.

Your house should look as clean as this one after framer is finished.
