Flooring (cont., pg. 3)
Hardwood Flooring
Hardwoods come from deciduous trees and are noted for their weight and durability.
  |
Typical hardwoods are oak, walnut, maple, mahogany, cherry, and teak.
You’ll find a great variety of colors and styles.
Solid woods are most commonly ¾” thick. They come unfinished when installed and are later sanded, stained, and sealed.

|
Solid woods also come prefinished, which increases cost.
Prefinished woods have the advantage of being a one-step installation process.
These are normally nailed into place, not an option for a concrete slab floor.
Engineered wood (layered) can have the same good look of solid wood.
It usually comes prefinished and is glued down, making it a good choice for slab floors. |
